Sample Curricular Units by IA Teachers

The Innovation Academy curriculum is considered trans-disciplinary because it crosses many disciplinary boundaries, including the STEM disciplines as well as Language Arts and social studies. Students are engaged in both project-based learning and problem-based learning and are engaged in solving authentic problems, working with others, and building real solutions (artifacts). Through this trans-disciplinary process students focus on real-world, authentic problems and learn to reflect on the work they are doing. This process allows students to construct their own knowledge of the world around them. This approach also provides context for local STEM professionals to become actively involved in supporting the curriculum.
